🛏️ Where We Stayed: Ocean Pointe Marriott Resort

71 S Ocean Ave, Palm Beach Shores, FL 33404

We spent all three nights in West Palm Beach at the Ocean Pointe Marriott Resort, and it couldn’t have been a better fit for our family. The ocean view from our room was stunning, and even when it rained, we found plenty to enjoy thanks to the resort’s City Center, which offers indoor activities and cozy spaces to relax as a family.

Our favorite features:

  • Multiple heated pools, splash pad, 1ft deep kid wading pool, and huge hot tub!
  • Easy beach access
  • Kid-friendly amenities and clean, spacious rooms (full kitchen, tub + shower, safe patios, highchairs + playpens available upon request)
  • Put Put Golf, Shuffle board, Pickle ball, Ping Pong, Gym, Kid Zone (they babysit your kiddos)
  • Snorkel gear rentals
  • Huge List of activities, for example ceramics painting, s’mores, margarita making class, and so much more!

This place made it easy to both explore and rest—which, let’s be honest, is the dream when traveling with littles!

🧸 Day 1: Schoolhouse Children’s Museum in Boynton Beach

129 E Ocean Ave, Boynton Beach, FL 33435

Our first stop was the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum, the only children’s museum in Boynton Beach—and an absolute gem! Housed in a historic school built in the 1930s, the museum features two floors of interactive exhibits perfect for babies, toddlers, and young kids. And yes, they have an elevator that can fit even the largest wagon stroller. We tested that for you! 😉 This museum is totally budget-friendly at $ 7 for adults & children over the age of 1, $6 for seniors, and FREE for children under 1 or Members.

Highlights included:

  • Four large themed rooms for pretend play (the farm room was a favorite!)
  • The best was the fenced-in carpeted room for our one-year-old baby. I was able to relax and let her explore without worrying about her getting hurt by other kids or play equipment!
  • A quiet butterfly garden and fenced-in playground (see if you can spot the locals, “iguanas”)
  • Plenty of water fountains, kid-sized bathrooms, and a cute gift shop
  • Friendly staff who made the visit extra welcoming
  • They also have so many special events/classes for kids of all ages, so make sure to check out their calendar of events!

It was educational, hands-on, and just the right size to explore without feeling overwhelmed.

🐢 Day 2: Loggerhead Marinelife Center

14200 US-1, Juno Beach, FL 33408

Next on our budget-friendly West Palm Beach with kids itinerary: Loggerhead Marinelife Center—a sea turtle hospital and marine education hub just steps from the beach. Admission is free, and there’s plenty for families to explore!

If you have an extreme turtle lover and are looking for a more in-depth look at how the Loggerhead MarineLife Center works, you can opt for the private tours. We went that route, and ours was an hour guided tour (highly recommend it for ages 7+), where we learned about the different sea turtle species they care for, saw turtles recovering in their tanks, and discovered the incredible outreach work they do for marine conservation.

Other family-friendly features:

  • Baby sea turtles and live tanks with nurse sharks, puffer fish, and more
  • Open and enjoyable RAIN OR SHINE!
  • Indoor and outdoor aquariums
  • A fun water table for kids to splash in
  • A huge gift shop with educational toys and eco-friendly finds

Bonus tip: After your visit, head right next door to the beach for some salty sea air and shoreline play.

🌊 Snorkeling at Blue Heron Bridge / Phil Foster Park

900 Blue Heron Blvd, Riviera Beach, FL 33404

We wanted a water adventure the whole family could enjoy, so we headed to Blue Heron Bridge in Phil Foster Park—a top-rated snorkeling spot known for calm, shallow waters and tons of marine life. It had plenty of parking spots, a shower, a play park, and a lifeguard. We love this spot! Nothing is more budget-friendly than free, huh?

Kanoa (7) spotted:

  • Starfish
  • Barracuda
  • Sting Rays
  • Sea slugs
  • So many fish
  • Shells galore!

Meanwhile, Ilo and Colibrí soaked in the warm shallows with their grandparents, collecting shells and enjoying the gentle waves.

This was one of our favorite stops of the whole trip—nature, exploration, and plenty of space for different ages to enjoy at their own pace.

Snorkel Tip: The best time to go is during high tide when the water is clearest, so make sure to check out a tide chart. We went during low tide and we were still able to see so much and enjoy ourselves.

We originally hoped to snorkel with Pura Vida Divers, and while timing didn’t work out for a guided tour, their team was incredibly helpful and pointed us to the best local snorkeling spot with tide charts and all. They’re clearly passionate about safe, family-friendly ocean adventures — and we’ll definitely be back to experience a tour with them next time!

🦩 Visit Palm Beach “Flamingle Happy Hour Cruise” (Yes, With Kids!)

138 South Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach FL 33401

We couldn’t resist the name—Flamingle Happy Hour Cruise—and yes, it’s a family-friendly booze cruise! 😄 This 90-minute catamaran ride hosted by Visit Palm Beach included beautiful views, live music, strong drinks (hello, rum punch), and non-alcoholic options for the kids. Oh, let’s not forget about the two bathrooms on board, thank goodness! How exactly is this “budget-friendly,” you ask? The drinks were half off! Worth every penny.

Ilo and Kanoa were totally safe and entertained with snacks and dancing, and the staff was super kind and accommodating. While Colibrí was welcome on board, we chose to leave her back at the resort for this one—and honestly, it made the experience much more enjoyable with the older kids. Side note, there is no direct parking by the “check in” hut, so you actually have to park at a garage + walk around 6 minutes to the cruise.

We’d definitely do it again!

🎶 Clematis by Night – Live Music & Local Vibes

Every Thursday, 6 – 9 p.m., Palm Stage on the Great Lawn, Downtown West Palm Beach

After our cruise, we stumbled upon Clematis by Night, a free outdoor event with live music, lawn games, and local vendors (yes, food trucks!). That evening, we caught a lively Elvis tribute concert and got a few fun freebies from the booths. This budget-friendly event will be happening until the end of August, so don’t miss it!

This was a perfect chill-down moment for the whole family—kids ran around the open green space, and we soaked in the relaxed, community vibe. Highly recommend checking the schedule if you’re in town!

🛍️ The Learning Express Toy Store – Wrapped with Love

Garden Square Shoppes, 10941 N Military Trl, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410

Before heading home, we made one last memorable stop: Learning Express Toy Store in Palm Beach Gardens. Lizzie, the owner, welcomed our kids with beautifully wrapped gifts—such a thoughtful surprise that made our day!

What makes Learning Express special:

  • They gift wrap anything you buy—for free!
  • They offer a gift registry and can ship gifts too
  • Toys for all ages, and I mean all ages, even my husband couldn’t resist the selection!
  • Play area in the back for kids to enjoy while parents shop
  • Their Back-to-School Grand Opening is August 17 and will include a bounce house, food, and family fun!

This isn’t just a toy store—it’s a local gem full of heart. If you’re nearby, it’s worth the visit!
