Universal Epic Universe Family Guide for 2025

Unless you’ve been avoiding social media completely, you have been hearing all the buzz surrounding the GRAND opening of Universal’s Epic Universe this past May 2025. But is it family-friendly, worth the ticket price, budget-friendly, and all the hype? I’ll answer all those questions with this easy-to-read Universal Epic Universe family guide. Let’s get into it!

Overview of Universal’s Epic Universe 5 Themed Lands

Celestial Park

This is the main or “central hub” of Epic Universe that boasts lush gardens, water features, two rides, interactive experiences, fifteen dining options, and six stores! One of the must-see areas covered in our Universal Epic Universe family guide is the impressive Cosmos Fountain show—ideal for toddlers and stroller naps alike.

Parent Hack: Astronomica is a wet play area within Celestial Park that is a great place to cool off. At night, the water feature lights up with colors and music!

Celestial Park Rides

  • Constellation Carousel (no height requirement)
  • Stardust Racers Coaster (48 ” minimum height) a side by side roller coaster race between two comets that reach speeds up to 62 mph!

Celestial Park Dining

  • Atlantic Restaurant + Aquaria Bar – located right in the middle of Celestial Park, this full-service restaurant within an aquarium serves up seafood while being surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass walls. This is certainly the spot for your fishing-loving kiddos.
  • The Blue Dragon Pan Asian Restaurant + Tiger Bar – serving authentic Thai, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine in this beautiful indoor courtyard
  • The Oak and Star Tavern + The Plastered Owl – Fun roadhouse-style eatery serving up BBQ and cold brews.
  • Pizza Moon – A Victorian-style theater turned pizzeria serving you guessed it, Pizza!
  • Meteor Astropub – Gastropub with a celestial twist
  • Star Sui Bao – Asian food cart serving up unique bao buns
  • Frosty Moon – Ice Cream snack stand
  • Comet Dogs – Stop by for a quick bite, includes “out of this world hot-dogs” with all the toppings.
  • Celestiki – Super funky tiki bar with glowing tiki faces
  • Bar Zenith – Enjoy cocktails with a view of the Celestial Park fountain shows.

Celestial Park Shopping

  • Nintendo Super Star Store is filled with Nintendo-themed keepsakes that give you a taste of what to expect in Super Nintendo World.
  • Moonship Chocolates and Celestial Sweets, as the name suggests, stop here to satisfy your sweet tooth.
  • Sensorium Emporium, this workshop-turned-emporium has a vast array of goodies to sift through.
  • Lens Flare is inside Sensorium Emporium and is the place to go for keepsakes of your time throughout Epic Universe.
  • North Star Wintry Wonders a fun store filled with holiday-themed items, including ornaments and toys.
  • Other Worlds Mercantile is the perfect place to find goods from worlds far away

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD

A Nintendo lover’s dream! Walk through the iconic green warp pipe to be transported to Super Nintendo World. You are immediately surrounded by the familiar world you’ve spent years playing. Here you can expect three rides, character meet-ups, dining experiences, and three shopping options. No Universal Epic Universe family guide would be complete without a deep dive into SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, where families can race, explore, and power-up together.

Parent Hack: Super Nintendo World has special interactive activities that require “Power-Up Bands” (must be purchased). Throughout the park, you can help Princess Peach defeat Bowser through a variety of iconic challenges, you can also win coins and use the band to check your score! More details on that here.

Super Nintendo World Rides

  • Mine Cart Madness – In Donkey Kong Country, board a mine cart family coaster for those 40″ or higher.
  • Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge – A motion simulator for those 40″ or higher. There are multiple outcomes, so each ride can be different!
  • Yoshi’s Adventure – Take a ride with Yoshi to look for glowing eggs on this is kid-friendly ride with a 34″ height requirement.

Super Nintendo World Dining

  • Toadstool Cafe – Incredibly iconic Nintendo-style food
  • The Bubbly Barrel – Tropical drinks right in the middle of Donkey Kong Country
  • Yoshi’s Snack Island – A quaint spot to enjoy fruit based drinks
  • Turbo Boosts Treats – A food counter with a few quick bites to enjoy

Super Nintendo World Shopping

  • 1-Up Factory – Iconic Nintendo souvenirs for everyone!
  • Funky’s Fly N Buy – Open-air market near Funky Kong.

How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

Ever dream of visiting the Isle of Berk where dragons and vikings live side by side? Well, now is your chance with this How To Train Your Dragon world come alive! Our Universal Epic Universe family guide recommends starting your day here if your kids love dragons, storytelling, and interactive play zones. Within the Isle of Berk there are three rides, character meet-ups (like Hiccup & Toothless), a live show, huge kids play area, three dining options and of course some shops!

Parent Hack: Don’t miss the live Untrainable Dragon Show or the Viking Training Camp play area, both are perfect options for the entire family.

Isle of Berk Rides

  • Hiccup’s Wing Gliders – Climb aboard Hiccup’s newest invention, a roller coaster for those 40″ or higher.
  • Dragon Racers Rally – Dragon racers gather to practice their skills in this fun dragon riding trainer, minimum height of 48 “.
  • Fyre Drill – Take the entire family and join Ruffnut and Tuffnut in a watery boat battle where you can blast fiery targets! There are no height requirements, although hand-held infants are not allowed.

Isle of Berk Dining

  • Mead Hall – Perfect dining options for those viking sized cravings!

  • Hooligan’s Grog and Gruel – Racing racing-themed food stand offering snacks and beverages.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic

Alright, at this point, we’ve all been to Harry Potter World’s Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade in Universal, right? Well, I’m about to give you the lowdown on the newest Harry Potter addition to Universal Studios Epic Universe! You can expect a ride, live show, three dining options, and multiple shops. Do not leave your wands at home, as there are many new interactive experiences throughout the Ministry of Magic.

Parent Hack: Step one, step all! Do not miss the live-action magical circus Le Cirque Arcanus, where you can witness creatures from Fantastic Beasts.

Ministry of Magic Ride

Harry Potter and The Battle of the Ministry – A thrill motion simulator ride where you join Harry, Ron, and Hermione into the ministry, height requirements are 40″.

  • Le’ Gobelet Noir – A place to dine for dark witches a wizards, beware!
  • Café L’air De La Siréne – Paris inspired café with indoor or outdoor dining options serving breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Dark Universe

Want to get scared without having to wait until Halloween each year, or you’re like our family and just like monsters? This Universal Epic Universe family guide advises caution for families in Dark Universe, but offers suggestions for brave little adventurers. Then head over to Dark Universe, where you can expect some seriously legendary monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, and Werewolf, to name a few. In the Dark Universe, you can experience two rides, character meet-ups, three dining options and shopping.

Parent Hack: Dark Universe has some seriously unique experiences. At Darkmoore Monster Makeup Experience, you can be transformed into a monster by a skilled makeup artist. This experience is purchased separately from your entrance fee, and participants must be 5 years old and up.

Dark Universe Rides

  • Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment is a motion simulator where you attempt to escape Dr. Victoria Frankenstein’s most recent creation (48” minimum height)
  • Curse of the Werewolf is a wagon-style thrill ride through the forest that goes up to speeds of 37 mph, riders must be 40” minimum height.

Dark Universe Dining

  • Das Stakehaus – Full service restaurant where you can be surrounded by vampire artwork and artifacts, how spooky!
  • The Burning Blade Tavern – Quick service food at a quaint tavern frequented by Darkmoor’s monster hunters.
  • De Lacy’s Cottage – Snacks and cool drinks near Frankenstein Manor

Dark Universe Shopping

  • The Guide of Mystics – Selling magical charms and jewelry in the woods
  • The Manor Storehouse – Main store selling all your heart’s desires of monster-themed items
  • Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities – Looking for something more strange, this is just the location for you!

🏨 Accommodations

  • Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a four-star hotel offering 500 rooms and direct park access!
  • Our favorite hotel is Universal Cabana Bay Resort. Staying at the Universal Hotel has many perks, including early park access, free shuttle to and from parks, to name a few.
  • There are many other nearby family-friendly hotels, including Hyatt Regency Orlando and Hilton Orlando.

Ticket Packages

  • Ticket options include single or multi-day passes for both Florida and non-Florida residents. Prices vary by date!
  • Passholders can add a 1-day special pricing ticket for Epic Universe until December 31, 2025.
